Make Music with Clarity, Creativity, and Confidence

Learn the systems and workflows that help you break out of loops, finish more music, and build real creative momentum.

What is Embervane?

Embervane is a place for people who love music but don't always feel like they fit the mold. It's for the curious, the analytical, the late-night tinkerers, the "I know what I want but can't get it out of my head yet" creators.

Here, you learn clear, practical systems that help you think better, work smarter, and create with purpose.

Has This Happened to You?

You start with a song idea in your head. The excitement is real.

You start putting some notes into your DAW and then you hit play... but it's not the same as what you heard in your head.

So, you fiddle with it, trying to put on different instruments to get the sound right. One more... nope. How about a synth? No, not really. Again and again.

And then, you find yourself staring at your computer screen wondering where the song went to. But it gets worse.

You keep trying to make it work, adding one thing and then another until you end up with a DAW that is cluttered with a pile of tracks that seem to only bury that original idea deeper and deeper.

When the Idea Doesn't Match the Output

A sad songwriter sits next to a river, representing the frustration of failing to finish a song idea.

When I started making music, this kind of thing happened much more often than when I actually finished a song. Maybe you've had the same experience: you end up with song ideas that just kind of die instead of being taken to completion. You have lots of song files, but very few are actually finished, let alone to how you would want them sounding.

And, to top it off, you hear other people's songs and there is just this gap of difference between what you are working on and other people are putting out.

Hitting Stumbling Blocks

Embervane was designed for people that have had experiences like these. People that want to make strides in their learning without

  • getting hung up by technical stuff

  • knowing enough at the start

  • being able to quickly write a melody or chords

  • getting frustrated at the gap between what is in their head and what comes out of their computer

The Frustration Is Real

I struggled with exactly these things as well when I started writing music not all that long ago.

In fact, I got frustrated by not understanding why my MIDI instruments did not sound like real instruments, or even like other songs! I hit a wall when trying to figure out why using loops were not getting me results like other people's songs. And it ticked me off when I did not understand how to add instruments to actually put a song together that sounds powerful and clear at the same time.

If you have ever felt this way, then Embervane was made for you.

Too Much Information?

Why Embervane Exists

We have likely all heard of "AI Slop" - the low-quality AI-generated material that we end up running into when looking for real answers. Well, I believe there is a "Content Slop" problem today and it extends beyond AI.

You know what I am talking about: when you are running into content that is...

  • self-serving with a sales focus

  • spazzy with 'reactions' instead of useful content

  • 'raving' endorsements with a 'buy through my link' message

  • content that is well-made, but not accurate

  • 'fast food' videos or articles that talk a lot but don't say much to help you

In this digital age, we are literally bombarded by content that is meant to sound meaningful but either it does not give us what we need, is confusing, is wrong, or is just plain bad.

This is the nature of the age we live in. Content "creators" race to get you some video that you will click on first.

We are told that reading a book doesn't make sense because you can watch a video instead. Then we find that the videos are generally a game of flash and sizzle - limited useful information at best.

Getting Information to Stick

I believe in following a different process: I want the information that Embervane produces to be functionally useful.

I want the lightbulb to go on for you so you can make a breakthrough and move forward with confidence when making your music.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience to start?

No - Embervane is designed to accommodate beginners as well as people that are already versed in making music on a computer. Familiarity with a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software helps, but we all have to start somewhere.

What DAW do I need?

Any DAW works. Although the specific keyboard or mouse inputs may vary between DAWs, the concepts taught here are universal.

Is MIDI Madness Tier 1 really free?

Yes, and it is the full course - no teaser here. There is more than three hours of content contained within it to help you to get working with MIDI on your computer.

Which DAW is objectively the absolute best one on the market?

The one that doesn't randomly crash right before you hit Save after a four-hour breakthrough song-writing session. All DAWs are universal tools, man - pick the one that matches with your creative workflow and go make more songs.

When will Tier 2 be available?

Quite soon - Tier 2 is currently undergoing quality testing to make sure that the content inside is highly useful to you.

Will I need to buy stuff to follow along with the courses?

No - if you have a DAW then you can follow along with the course material without making additional purchases. In fact, MIDI Madness Tier 1 has a list of free virtual instruments that you could download and start using right away.

However, as you progress as a music creator, you may find that you need to expand your tool set. When that happens, purchasing instruments and plugins is the most realistic path forward. But fear not, for Embervane has a focus on value; if we recommend a plugin or an instrument, you will know why, although you are not required to make any additional purchases beyond the courses.

Will learning music make me popular at parties?

It may... it may not. I mean, people generally love music... so people may dig being around people that make music, right?

Unless, of course, your music making ability has honed your listening skills to make it so you can hear all the problems in whatever room you walk into and all you do is complain about it. Choose your path wisely.
